It begins with an idea and a sketch from a designer. After an extensive process, a finished product stands ready at the factory. Now it is ready to find a new home and a family to care for it for generations.

The products you purchase that are handcrafted at Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik are made with perfection by the factory's employees. Floyd Malek, production manager at Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik, explains that there is a great deal of science and theory behind making porcelain. It is the laws of nature that govern the process, and these must be followed in order to achieve a fine product.

During production, much can go wrong, and not all products turn out as they should. The factory has strict grading standards that are followed to the letter, and these have become increasingly stringent since the factory's first firing in 1887.
