Porsgrund's high-fired feldspar porcelain is fired at 1400 degrees Celsius. The firing is carried out in a special oxygen-poor atmosphere to produce the characteristic whiteness and glow in the material. By firing the porcelain at 1400 degrees Celsius, the body and glaze melt together. As a result, the products obtain a particularly durable glaze and thus a hygienic eating surface. The glaze surface becomes hard and will never craze/crack from the body. This production method gives the porcelain the translucent white and glossy glaze for which Porsgrund is known.
High-fired porcelain with and without decor can usually be washed in a dishwasher regularly. This applies, for example, to our Maxi- and Mini-strå, Bluebird, Fauna and Sense series. Dinnerware with on-glaze decorations, especially gold and platinum, is more susceptible to wear, and we therefore recommend hand washing. This applies, for example, to most of our fine dinnerware such as Tid, Nathalie, Cecilie and Märtha. In general, we recommend gentle washing and the use of rinse aid, as this maintains the glaze's shine and extends the life of the dinnerware.
