By firing the porcelain at 1,400°C, the body and glaze fuse together. As a result, the products achieve an exceptionally durable glaze and therefore a hygienic dining surface.

Porsgrund’s high-fired feldspar porcelain is fired at 1,400°C in a specially controlled, low-oxygen atmosphere. This process brings out the porcelain’s characteristic whiteness and luminous glow. At this temperature, the body and glaze melt together, creating an especially strong and resilient glaze. The glaze surface becomes hard and will never crackle or separate from the body. This production method gives the porcelain the translucent white appearance and glossy finish for which Porsgrund is known.

High-fired porcelain, with or without decoration, can generally be washed regularly in the dishwasher. This applies to collections such as Maxi- and Mini-Strå, Bluebird, Fauna and Sense. Tableware with overglaze decoration—especially gold and platinum—is more prone to wear, and we therefore recommend hand washing. This applies to most of our fine dining collections, such as Tid, Nathalie, Cecilie and Märtha. In general, we recommend gentle washing and the use of rinse aid to preserve the glaze’s shine and extend the lifespan of your tableware.
